“Every simple word uttered by you lights a singular scene in each singular soul.”

Robin Parkin is a pianist, singer and songwriter living in Melbourne, Australia on Wurundjeri Country. Growing up in an intentional community in the Adelaide Hills, he grew up surrounded by people who cared a whole lot for the world, its people and species.

Drawing on his background as a pianist and choral singer, Robin started writing music as gifts to his family—for birthdays, Christmases and births—music that celebrates people he loves and the qualities they bring to their community. Drawing on his love for poetry and the written word, he fell in love with composing music that brought these together with uplifting lyrical melodies inspired by artists such as the Wailin’ Jennys, the Weepies, Passenger and Cat Stevens.

You’ll hear him sing a lot about his upbringing, building community, modern masculinity, and anxiety. You’ll like his music when you’re feeling a bit sad about the world; when your head is all over the place and you need to come back to earth; or when you need to get out of the weeds and get a glimpse of the sky again.

When not writing songs, Robin works for a not-for-profit organisation designing a model of care for older folks that employs young people. Check them out at www.lively.org.au. Support Australia’s indigenous-led youth climate network, Seed, at www.seedmob.org.au.
